Welcome to AESE

The Association of Earth Science Editors (AESE) is a group of individuals involved in selection, editing, and publication of manuscripts, books, journals, reports, and maps pertaining to the earth sciences. AESE provides a forum for the interchange of ideas that will lead to more effective dissemination of earth science information to the scientific community, educators and students, and the public.

What's New

NEW: 2023 AESE Annual Meeting
The 2023 AESE annual meeting will be held in person on November 1–5 at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Downtown Austin in Austin, Texas. Carole L. Ziegler and Patricia Bobeck, cochairs of the meeting, send the following information and three attachments — a call for abstracts, a list of interesting sites in Austin, and a waiver form for those who qualify for a tax-free exemption at the hotel.

Here is the information:

First, we have a personal website for our members to register for the hotel rooms. To get the group rate, reservations must be made no later than October 1, 2023. The group rate is good/valid for extra nights if desired on each end of the meeting. Just be sure to note the dates on the website provided. If you decide that you cannot attend, you must cancel your reservation three days before to avoid being charged. We suggest that if you are pretty sure you are coming to the meeting, get your reservation in early so that if we need, we can block out more rooms.

Each room has a small kitchen, king bed, and pullout couch.

To reserve a room, please see the website below:
https://www.hilton.com/en/attend-my-event/ausdohw-aes-ce6c52f0-c9ad-4e58-b2dd-192de64b42d0/

Or use the hotel website: https://HomewoodDowntownAustin.com and enter the Group Code: AES under the Special Rates Tab for your Group block dates.

Please find three attachments:

1. Call for Abstracts

2. If you are an employee of either the Texas government or the federal government, there is a tax-exempt form. Fill this form out and bring it with you to the meeting. The hotel then will take care of the tax exemption for you.

3. A partial list of some things to do and see in Austin.

If you have any questions, please contact either Carole Ziegler or Patricia Bobeck at AESEAustinmeeting@gmail.com

Not Getting Our Emails?
If you have not been receiving regular emails from us during the year, it's possible your spam/junk mail filter might be blocking them from coming through. Please see the attached for a possible solution to this problem, but also let Rowena Mills know so she can ensure you receive regular emails from us until the problem is sorted out.
